Participants will need reasonable physical fitness levels
For all persons who are required to work in an environment where it is necessary to enter the space using Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or Air-line equipment. Where entry to the space is non-standard and will require specialist equipment to gain access. Persons who are required to be a part of a rescue team involved with the confined space workings. The course covers practical sessions using rescue equipment available within a standard recue kit.
To enable the candidate to hold a good understanding of the requirements and procedures to rescue from high risk spaces. To become fully competent with standard rescue equipment which also includes after use inspections and general checking of the apparatus. To become a useful member of a rescue team with an extensive understanding of rescue systems.
Hazards found within confined spaces.
Safe systems of work to enter high risk spaces.
Use of gas monitoring equipment and atmosphere testing.
Use of full Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
Use of Breathing Apparatus Air-line equipment.
The use of pre-rigged rescue equipment.
Selection, use and assembly of simple pulley systems.
Use of Quad-Pod / Tripod Systems to gain entry to spaces. Emergency procedures within the space.
Casualty management and rescue from within the space.
Rescue plans for confined space entry.
To be able to carry out Risk Assessments prior to entering the space. Connection of the casualty to the rescue equipment. Implementing simple pulley systems.
Overcoming friction issues by using the correct placement of edge protection.
To become competent in the use of full Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and set malfunction.
To become competent in the use of full Breathing Apparatus Air-line equipment.
Be able to construct and use a Quad-Pod / Tripod System for vertical entry into the space.
Be able to construct bespoke rescue systems and operate as part of a rescue team.
To be able to implement and understand rescue plans for high risk confined spaces.
